12 February 2012 – The Grammys and Whitney

I haven't posted in a couple of weeks due to a shoulder injury. I appear to have a hairline fracture but go back to the Ortho on Thursday to determine the status. If it is not better by then, I may have to have an MRI to determine if I have a tear in my rotator cuff, so I am praying for a fracture! It has not been fun.

I was excited to prepare Sunday Supper tonight for the Grammys. I always enjoy then, and I am really looking forward to Adele's return. She should have a great night. In addition, Glen Campbell is receiving a lifetime achievement award. I have always like him, and his last CD, Ghost on a Canvas, was my favorite CD of 2011. He is suffering from Alzheimer's, so this is very bittersweet. Of course, the news of Whitney Houston's untimely death has dampened my enthusiasm. It will cast a shadow on the event, but I know she will receive the tribute that she deserves. She had the most incredible voice, especially at the start of her career when her innocence and beauty was undeniable. I really enjoyed her comeback CD in 2009. Even though her voice had clearly suffered the cost of her addictions, it was deeper and more interesting in many ways. I really expected her to get her act together, so I was deeply shocked and saddened when we heard the news last night. One of her most amazing performances was when she sang the National Anthem at the Superbowl. No one has, or ever will, sing it better. Rest in Peace Whitney! I will always love you.

Tonight, I cooked baked ziti and served it with an organic green salad with hearts of palm. John and Cory joined us for dinner, and tomorrow is John's birthday. He loves cheesecake, so I made a new york cheese cake with fresh raspberry coulis. Happy birthday John!
