17 January 2010 - Golden Globes

I love cooking Sunday Supper on award show nights! Tonight is the Golden Globe Awards, so I look forward to seeing all of the stars. Today is also special for another reason. It is my BFCF's (best friend in comfort food) birthday. Happy birthday to Bernardo Margulis! Bernardo has followed Bill's Sunday Suppers from the beginning, so I am dedicating tonight's dinner to him. Tonight, I cooked an iron skillet roasted chicken over potatoes, carrots and onions. I got the recipe from my favorite new cookbook, Simple Fresh Southern by Matt and Ted Lee. I love their recipes and stories. The house smells divine! I also sauteed some organic cabbage and made some homemade focaccia bread. For desert, I made buttermilk pudding cakes with sugared raspberries. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

The Menu:

- Iron Skillet Roasted Chicken with Carrots, Potatoes and Vidalia Onions

- Sauteed Organic Cabbage

- Focaccia Bread

- Buttermilk Pudding Cakes with Sugared Rasberries

I think I'm moving to Canton! Homemade foccacia -- and dessert looks wonderful!

Monday night leftovers were almost as good! I made open faced toasted focaccia with chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy with a side of asparagus braised in chicken stock and butter.
